JOB SUMMARY

We are thrilled to provide this chance to further expand our practice-focused career path for Social Workers. Devon is passionate about growing people and devoted to reaching excellence in practice by focussing on what is important to them.

We have two full-time, permanent positions available.

  • In the Newton Abbot Community Health and Social Care Team, there is one position available for an advanced social worker.
  • The Moor to Sea (Totnes and Dartmouth) Community Health and Social Care Team is looking for one Advanced Social Worker.

The job of the Advanced Social Worker is critical to driving best practice and assisting our teams in delivering the best outcomes for clients.

About Us:

Newton Abbot and Moor to Sea are part of the larger South Devon teams, alongside Coastal Teignmouth and Dawlish. We are a group of colleagues from various professional backgrounds, including social work, occupational therapy, and non-professionally qualified personnel. Our population is broad, and the team works with adults of working age who have a physical and/or learning disability, including those transitioning to adulthood, older people with physical disabilities and/or mental health issues, such as dementia, and carers.

We are located at Sherbourne House in the heart of Newton Abbot, near Totnes Community Hospital. We cover a vast geographic area, including numerous GP surgeries, and collaborate closely with our health colleagues in community nursing and intermediate care. Both teams are busy but friendly and supportive. We are committed to fostering a person-centred culture that prioritises individuals in everything we do.

One of the major advantages of working in either team is that we have well-established teams of dedicated self-starters. They have a strong work ethic and actively promote the rights of the people we work with. They are a highly capable team that manages challenges on a regular basis and consistently employs strengths-based practices. We have a strong team spirit and are dedicated to collaborating with our co-located integrated community services team, which includes Community Nursing, Intermediate Care, and Community Therapy.

The advanced social worker will collaborate closely with the team managers in each locality, focussing on Devon’s priorities for promoting development and best practice.

We are committed about assisting our colleagues in advancing their professional and career growth.
