A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant to work in the Southampton Dermatology Centre at the Royal South Hampshire Hospital. The Southampton Dermatology Centre is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m., with some optional after-hours and weekend work. You will help manage the different consultant and nurse-led clinics within the Dermatology and Medical Outpatients Departments, as well as assist clinicians in our Day Case surgical rooms.
Key Responsibilities
Work with a team of nurses and clinicians to develop and maintain high standards of care.
To provide and receive regular reports on patients’ progress, taking immediate action on any changes in the patient’s condition and reporting them to the appropriate health care expert.
Assist consultant surgeons in day surgery operating rooms and nurse surgeons with their operating lists.
Facilitate the smooth operation of various clinics (including Medical Outpatients) and chaperone patients as needed.
Assist clinicians during clinics by obtaining clinical images and observations, as well as assisting patients with undressing, dressing, and movement.

Job duties
The Dermatology Department provides a variety of services and clinics, including UVL treatment, photo testing, Botox, patches, a two-week skin cancer pathway, and vulval clinics. Many of our clinics are led by nurses, including acne, topical treatments, UV light therapy, allergy patch testing, mole mapping, and wound clinics.
The successful candidate will be tasked with assisting in some of these clinics and chaperoning patients. When Day Case surgery patients arrive, you will also manage the admission and recovery areas, conduct observations, and provide aftercare information. You will also be able to assist the Dermatology Surgeons in the operating rooms.
Be in charge of ensuring that various daily clinics run smoothly, accepting phone calls from patients/relatives, and offering care and guidance to patients and relatives in order to support and facilitate high-quality, individualised care.We also manage a small number of medical outpatient clinics, including TB, Diabetes, and Gastro, and you will aid clinicians with observations and venesection to ensure that these clinics function well.
We are searching for a Health Care Support worker that is interested in working in dermatology. Previous experience is helpful, but not required, as all necessary training will be provided.

- NVQ 3 in health and social care, or equivalent.
- Numeracy and literacy skills at level one, two, or equivalent
