Depop is a platform where anybody can explore and express their style on their own terms, while also feeling good about their fashion choices by prolonging the life of millions of items.

The company was created in 2011 and is based in London, with further offices in Manchester and New York. Depop employs roughly 400 people who are dedicated to the objective of creating the world’s most diversified progressive fashion house that is kinder to the environment and nicer to people. Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy, the global marketplace for unique and creative goods, in 2021, yet it continues to operate independently.

Depop is an equal opportunity employer. Our objective is to create the world’s most diversified and progressive fashion home. To do this, we invite individuals from underrepresented populations to apply. We value diversity and strive to provide an inclusive atmosphere for all employees. We are working to develop fair recruitment processes and welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during your interview experience with us. Depop supports visa sponsorship; nevertheless, sponsorship opportunities may be limited to specific roles and skill types.

  • Work closely with the team’s many functions, including product, design, analytics, and QA, to ensure that your team is on track and delivering value to our users.
  • Ensure that new engineers are effectively onboarded and have the best opportunity to flourish at Depop and in their careers.
  • Advocate for your team and engineering to create understanding about team health, promote inclusivity, and drive meaningful change.
  • Create and maintain an inclusive, courteous, and varied culture so that all views are heard.
  • Collaborate with teams from across the pillar and the organisation to achieve project and roadmap cohesion.
  • Facilitate your team’s constant learning and progress.

Qualifications

  • You are an Engineering manager looking for a new and interesting opportunity, or you have the ambition, energy, and empathy to start your people management career.
  • Can facilitate technical decision-making across numerous technological landscapes, demonstrating a love for the technical aspects of your work while allowing engineers to drive the details.
  • Experience designing high-traffic systems that serve 10,000s of concurrent users
  • Strong understanding of system architecture in a current cloud-based environment (AWS, GCP), as well as either Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Can examine and assess issues from a high-level viewpoint, making data-driven judgements in the face of confusing or changing objectives and goals.
  • Can work with cross-disciplinary stakeholders with diverse goals to produce excellent solutions that meet all standards.
  • Understand how to foster pleasant interactions among your team members and generate positive change.
  • Passionate in creating a user-focused platform.
  • You embody our “Depop DNA” by showing up for the community, supporting one another, and acting with purpose while keeping sustainability and cost in mind through thrifty thinking.
