Health Care Assistant

March 28, 2024
£22.4 - £22.4 / year

Job Description

Job overview

The Royal Liverpool’s critical care facilities include an 18-bed Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU), a 4-bed post-operative critical care unit (POCCU), and a 14-bed High Dependency Unit. These will be consolidated into a single Critical Care Unit in October 2022 with the shift to the New Royal.

We care for individuals with severe multi-organ failure who require invasive equipment and continuous monitoring. The regions are clinically, physically, and emotionally demanding, but the results are immensely rewarding when our patients recover and are transferred from Critical Care.

Under the supervision and direction of a licenced nurse, help the Ward / Department team in providing the best possible standard of basic care for patients and their families/caregivers.

The minimum wage for a skilled visa will climb to £23,200 starting April 4, 2024. We recommend that candidates seeking sponsorship study the eligibility conditions at https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa.

Main responsibilities of the job

We are looking for highly driven individuals to join our Critical Care Group’s HCA team. The work include aiding trained personnel with some aspects of patient care, such as mobilisation, but it also includes stock control, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, patient bedspaces, and overall maintenance of a clean and safe environment for our patients. Please review the Job Description and Personal Specifications. Full and part-time positions are available.

Candidates having at least a Level 2 NVQ and experience working in an acute healthcare setting will be given preference. Candidates must be trustworthy, adaptable, and compassionate persons with strong writing and verbal communication skills. The position will require shift work.

Because of the nature of our patients and the emotionally difficult environment within Critical Care, applicants invited for interviews should plan a casual visit to the unit.
