Role Overview:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will provide personal care, support daily living activities, and offer comfort to patients requiring short-term or long-term assistance. Collaborating with patients, families, and caregivers, you will contribute to safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. Your role spans diverse settings, including homes, communities, and healthcare facilities, embodying AHS’s vision and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory with a confirmation letter available at Alberta HCA Directory.
  • Nursing students in Alberta who have completed a minimum of 100 practicum hours and are:
    • In their 1st year of a practical nursing program, or
    • In their 2nd year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in geriatric nursing.
