Role Overview:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will provide personal care, support daily living activities, and offer comfort to patients requiring short-term or long-term assistance. Collaborating with patients, families, and caregivers, you will contribute to safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. Your role spans diverse settings, including homes, communities, and healthcare facilities, embodying AHS’s vision and values.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal care and daily living activities.
- Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.
- Adhere to AHS’s values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory with a confirmation letter available at Alberta HCA Directory.
- Nursing students in Alberta who have completed a minimum of 100 practicum hours and are:
- In their 1st year of a practical nursing program, or
- In their 2nd year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
- Time management and prioritization skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in geriatric nursing.
