Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned communications professional to join us as the Head of Student Communications. This pivotal role will involve fostering a sense of belonging and community among our 43,000 students through strategic, high-quality communications. You will enhance the student experience, ensure effective engagement, and drive advocacy and satisfaction.

As part of the Communications and Engagement leadership team within the External Relations directorate, you will develop and deliver our student communications strategy, positioning us as the university of choice and elevating our student experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement a comprehensive multi-channel student communications strategy, ensuring coordinated messaging throughout the student lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the university, offering expert advice and leadership in communications.
  • Manage crisis, reputational, and incident communications effectively.
  • Oversee a team responsible for creating multimedia content, managing social media, digital platforms, and engagement activities.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Expertise: Strong, adaptable communication skills with extensive experience in integrated communications across multiple channels.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of communications professionals.
  • Strategic Vision: Experience in managing complex communications plans and crisis communications.
  • Sector Knowledge: A solid understanding of the higher education landscape and its challenges.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to develop effective relationships and communicate persuasively at all levels.
