Job Description

The Global Mobility Advisor plays a key role in supporting UKAEA’s international workforce by overseeing every aspect of global assignments, cross border relocations, and employee moves. Serving as a central liaison, you will connect employees, line managers, HR teams, external mobility partners, immigration/tax experts, and senior stakeholders to ensure smooth, compliant, and effective internaltional mobility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer clear, practical advice to employees and managers on all international travel and work requirements, such as visa applications, work permits, travel insurance, and necessary supporting paperwork.
  • Handle intricate immigration scenarios, working closely with specialist external providers to secure compliant and realistic outcomes.
  • Deliver specialist insights into suitable visa pathways, expected processing times, and required documents to help teams plan overseas projects effectively.
  • Lead on UK inbound immigration processes, recommending optimal visa routes and managing sponsorship for Temporary Worker visas.
  • Support assignees and their families throughout the relocation journey, covering topics like insurance options, permits, allowances, expense claims, and ongoing compliance obligations.
  • Review and classify proposed secondments, develop robust business cases, and facilitate the approval workflow.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and finalise secondment contracts in collaboration with legal and operational colleagues.
  • Evaluate potential tax and payroll impacts of international moves, communicating these clearly while escalating complex issues to tax specialists as needed.
  • Oversee the full relocation process, coordinating with external service providers to deliver seamless support for employees and their dependents.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all global mobility-related questions, upholding strict confidentiality and full compliance with GDPR and data protection standards.
  • Administer procurement processes and financial tracking for relocation services, ensuring accurate invoicing and cost management.
  • Contribute to enhancing global mobility procedures, creating user-friendly guidance materials, improving stakeholder engagement, and championing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) throughout all activities.

What We are Looking For

  • In-depth understanding of UK and international immigration laws, right-to-work rules, and the ability to navigate and interpret complex visa categories while addressing non-compliance where necessary.
  • Confidence in providing informed guidance to stakeholders at all levels on business travel and assignment visa options, backed by thorough research into global immigration, relocation, and insurance frameworks.
  • Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality, combined with a sound knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities, along with proficient IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office suite).
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with external vendors and multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver compliant international mobility initiatives.
