About the Role

Swansea University is seeking a dedicated Finance/Income Assistant to join our Income team, contributing to the delivery of our strategic vision and sustainable ambitions. This role is integral to supporting our professional services workforce in implementing efficient, innovative, and technology-driven systems and processes.

As a Finance/Income Assistant, you will work closely with Senior Income Officers, providing professional advice and guidance to colleagues while liaising with customers. You will manage aspects of the Income Cycle, identify risks, and deliver innovative solutions that align with the University’s strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Income Management: Support the management of the Income Cycle, from sales requisition to debt management.
  • Customer Support: Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues and customers, ensuring alignment with university policies.
  • Data Evaluation: Extract, analyze, and evaluate data to deliver quality information that supports decision-making.
  • Risk Management: Use insights and objective data to identify risks and opportunities, advising on appropriate actions.
  • Policy Application: Assist in applying financial policies and procedures consistently and accurately.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and enhance the impact of the Finance function within the University.

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Specialist Knowledge: Familiarity with income management systems and processes.
  • Decision-Making: Confident in making judgements on technical matters.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise with colleagues and customers professionally.
  • Welsh Language Skills: Level 1 proficiency is required (basic everyday phrases and greetings). A 1-hour course can help achieve this level.
