Are you a skilled Electrical Engineer driven to become a leading technical expert within a critical national infrastructure environment? Our client, a global leader in the operation and maintenance of power generation assets, is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team at a key facility in Plymouth.
This is a rare opportunity to take centre stage as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical engineering aspects of a major power plant. You will be instrumental in ensuring operational excellence, from strategic project planning to hands-on technical leadership. About the Role:
As the site’s Electrical Engineering authority, you will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity and performance of the plant’s electrical systems. Your responsibilities will be diverse, blending proactive engineering with reactive support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary technical expert for the entire electrical infrastructure, including HV/LV systems, generators, transformers, and switchgear.
- Leading the planning and execution of electrical projects, particularly during planned outage periods to maximise efficiency and safety.
- Providing expert guidance and hands-on support to the maintenance team for complex troubleshooting and reactive repairs.
- Developing and implementing engineering strategies to enhance plant reliability, safety, and performance.
- Pursuing and achieving Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status through a structured, company-sponsored training programme.
Your Profile:
We are looking for an accomplished engineer who combines deep technical knowledge with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (e.g., Degree, HNC, or HND).
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer within the power generation, utilities, or a similar heavy industrial sector (e.g., petrochemical, marine, or manufacturing).
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with high-voltage equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, HV motors, and/or large generators.
- A strong commitment to safety principles and engineering best practices.
- The ability to relocate to or commute to the Plymouth area on a daily basis.
