Join Into Laksa Sydney Pty Ltd in Mascot as a Full-Time Cook specializing in Malaysian cuisine. We offer a dynamic work environment, competitive salary, and growth opportunities for the right candidate.

Position Details:

  • Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
  • Hours: 38 hours per week
  • Salary: $75,000 per year + superannuation
  • Location: Conveniently located in Mascot, NSW with easy access to public transport

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertly prepare Malaysian dishes with a focus on authentic flavors, utilizing at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in Malaysian, Singaporean, or Indonesian restaurants.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in wok cooking, essential for our menu’s extensive range of stir-fry dishes.
  • Uphold stringent food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring quality and compliance at all times.
  • Efficiently manage food preparation tasks, including cutting, seasoning, portioning, and plating.
  • Organize and oversee weekly ordering routines, maintaining balanced stock levels to ensure kitchen efficiency.
  • Lead the kitchen team during service, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality meals.
  • Foster a positive team spirit, delegating tasks respectfully to maintain a collaborative and friendly work environment.
  • Assist the front-of-house team in addressing specific dietary requirements to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in hiring and training new staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with the head office chef to design and develop innovative menu items.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine.
  • Strong industry contacts within Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Positive team player with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Southeast Asian traditional dishes, ingredients, pastes, and sauces.
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, Indonesian, Mandarin Chinese, and English is advantageous.
  • Training in a Western kitchen is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of food safety protocols and inventory management.
  • Creativity in developing dishes that meet current culinary trends.
  • Willingness to embrace challenges and contribute to the team’s success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship is preferred.
