Job Description

Job Summary

The Preschool Development Team (PDT) and School Age Learning Disability team are looking for a Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant to support their work in Wrexham. The ideal candidate for this position is a highly motivated and competent support worker or nursery nurse with necessary education, training, and experience to join our team in Wrexham.

The agency works with children ages 0 to 18 and their families. The Pre-school Development Team (ages 0-5) currently serves children with major global developmental delays and/or social communication difficulties. The School Age Learning Disability Team (ages 5-18) serves children with learning disabilities and related health needs. Both Teams offer assessments and interventions in both centres and at home, as well as remote work.

Main responsibilities of the job

The post holder will help deliver individual and group-based interventions with parents and children in both Teams, as well as support the larger team of health professionals working in the PDT and school-age learning disability services. The post holder will receive regular supervision to guide and help them in their work.

The position is multifaceted and involves acting as a point of contact for families within the programme, aiding with observations at nurseries, playgroups, schools, or at home, for example, to aid with assessment. Individual work with children and their families will also be carried out as needed. There will also be a need to assist with the creation of communication boards or other intervention materials, as well as provide basic administrative support as needed.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this position; Welsh and/or English speakers are also invited to apply.
