  • Social Worker Level 1/2: $70,944 – $101,211 per annum
  • Welfare Officer Level 1/2: $70,944 – $101,211 per annum

Position Overview:

As a Community Mental Health Clinician, you will play a key role in delivering recovery-focused clinical services, including assessment, care coordination, intervention, and liaison within a multidisciplinary team. Your primary focus will be on older individuals with mental illnesses, disorders, or moderate to severe behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide contemporary, recovery-focused mental health services.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions for older adults.
  • Collaborate with consumers, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to the NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
  • Promote mental health rehabilitation and recovery using a strengths-based approach.

Selection Criteria:

  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist OR eligibility for membership with a relevant professional association for Social Workers, Counsellors, or Welfare Officers.
  • Experience: Proven experience in Older Persons Mental Health, including mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery.
  • Skills: High-level communication skills, proficiency in computer literacy, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Licensing: Current unrestricted driver’s license with the ability to travel long distances as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Occupational Assessment, Screening, and Vaccination: Category ‘A’ position, requiring compliance with NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. Proof of vaccination against influenza is compulsory for NSW Health staff entering or working in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs).
