Role Overview: Sheet Metal Mechanic – Illesheim

As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will play a critical role in the maintenance and structural integrity of rotary-wing aircraft. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and modifying aircraft components using industry-standard tools and technical documentation.

This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, technically proficient, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify structural or mechanical faults in aircraft components.
  • Disassemble, repair, realign, and reassemble damaged or defective parts.
  • Perform structural repairs, including patching, splicing, and replacement of aircraft panels and frames.
  • Apply corrosion protection treatments using mechanical and chemical methods.
  • Fabricate, form, and install replacement parts using jigs, dies, and hand/power tools.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and schematics to ensure compliance.
  • Assemble and install aircraft components using specialized fasteners, bonding agents, and sealants.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Accurately document all maintenance and repair activities using digital systems (e.g., automated maintenance logs).
  • Adhere to hazardous materials handling and disposal protocols in line with environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with team leads and engineers to recommend improvements in repair techniques and maintenance procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic, preferably within military or aerospace environments.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structural systems and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical data, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use standard and specialized metalworking tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented, high-paced military setting.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to and work in Germany.
  • Security clearance or eligibility to obtain one may be required.
